DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced ED RN for a night shift position at a Trauma Level III teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Work in the Emergency Department of a Trauma Level III teaching hospital with 457 licensed beds
- Facility includes a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Treat diverse patient population including trauma, GSW, stabbing, MVA, falls, stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illness, GI disorders, and liver/renal failure
- RN to patient ratio is 1:5 max (acuity dependent); CNA ratio is 1:7
- EMR used is EPIC
- IV pumps by Alaris, medication dispensing via Omnicell, and monitors by Phillips
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within Region 1, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH)
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI
- TNCC certification preferred
- Trauma and stroke experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma and acute medical conditions
- Supported by a full care team including CNAs, HUC/receptionist, 24/7 charge nurse, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and ED physicians
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking provided
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible - Local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
