The Part-Time School Nurse will work as a member of the School Health Services team.

• Provide assessment, first aid, treatment, and nursing care for illnesses and injuries within the scope of professional nursing practice.
• Support the ongoing management of students with chronic and complex health conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans and emergency action plans for students with identified health needs.
• Administer and supervise prescribed medications and nursing treatments in accordance with school policies and applicable regulations.
• Recognize potential medical emergencies and initiate appropriate emergency care and response procedures.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, faculty, staff, healthcare providers, and other members of the school community regarding student health concerns.
• Provide health education and training to faculty and staff on topics such as allergy awareness, epinephrine auto-injector use, diabetes management, and other student health needs.
• Assist with monitoring student immunization records and other required health documentation.
• Support appropriate exclusion and return-to-school decisions related to infectious and communicable illnesses.
• Assist with required reporting of communicable diseases in accordance with applicable laws and public health guidelines.
• Promote a healthy and safe school environment through education, prevention, and collaboration.
• Serve as a liaison among students, families, school personnel, healthcare professionals, and community resources.
• Perform other school health-related duties as assigned.

Education and Licensure:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina required.
• Current CPR/AED certification required.

Experience:

• Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience preferred.
