American Traveler is seeking an RN
- Med/Surg/Tele for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

• Emergency Observation Unit within a 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital
• Unit features Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence designations
• 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10
• 12-hour night shift schedule ), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed, within scope of practice
• EPIC EMR system used
• Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing system used

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Stroke experience and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Proficiency in trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, and NGT placement required
• Experience with drain/tube management including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, and foley insertion/management required
• PCA pump experience required
• Medication gtt management experience required, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

• Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg/Tele unit supporting cardiac and stroke patients
• Support team includes a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN for admissions/discharges, 24/7 RT and Hospitalist coverage, and a dedicated IV/VAT team
• Phlebotomy responsibilities shared between RNs and IV team
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required
• Free employee parking deck available
• Team culture includes unit book club and social activities
• First-time travelers considered though not preferred
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
