Job Summary :
This position is responsible for the activity of the Quality Department of a fast-growing CPG company. Developing and implementing policies, monitoring quality standards, and leading process improvement initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction and organizational success. This includes all Control, Regulatory, and Compliance responsibilities. The position requires an ability to manage a quality system and organization.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy aligned with company goals and industry best practices
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve product quality, process efficiency, and compliance
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing quality team
- Conduct Customer and Regulatory Audits (USDA NOP, GMP, and SMETA)
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), audit reports, and corrective action plans
- Mitigate risks by conducting regular internal audits and implementing preventive measures
- Track and investigate customer/product complaints or issues, analyzing causes and recommendation of corrective actions
- Collaborate with production, supply chain, and R&D teams to align quality objectives with overall business strategies
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers and conduct supplier audits to ensure raw materials meet quality standards
- Participate in new product development to assure quality considerations are covered in the design, testing for release of materials and components, and manufacturing
- Perform risk assessments and gap analysis
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable government regulations, certifications, and standards (USDA NOP program, FDA, etc.)
Essential
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of quality systems, statistical process control/tools, structured problem solving and continuous improvement concepts and practices
- Ability to interact positively, professionally and with a sense of urgency with customers, employees, and vendors
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional analytical, root-cause-analysis and decision-making abilities
- Leading internal and external audits, ensuring full regulatory adherence
- Proven record of process improvement and execution
- Familiarity with consumer packaging systems and materials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with customers
- Knowledge of Plant Quality Systems related to SOP’s, work instructions, and CGMP
- Solid critical thinking skills and ability to create new, innovative ways to handle the quality function
- Employ strong organizational skills
Credentials/
Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or Engineering
- 5+ years experience in quality assurance within the consumer goods industry
- Knowledge ofFDA, USDA, GMP, andISO standards
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of standard practices related to quality assurance and control
