Campus Safety Officer

Wingate University is a teaching university with campuses located within 25 minutes of the Charlotte, North Carolina metropolitan area.

• Respond to incidents on campus, determine appropriate actions, document complete written records to meet federal and university requirements, and provide immediate updates to Residence Life and the Chief of Campus Safety.
• Respond to calls for services such as vehicle lockouts, battery jump‑starts, and complete unlock or lock of campus buildings and classrooms as directed and scheduled, including checking windows, doors, equipment, heating/cooling, and other areas.
• Ensure daily enforcement of parking policy and related parking enforcement efforts.
• Enforce university policies, guidelines, and rules, particularly those related to or specifically drafted for the assigned housing community.
• Perform general community policing duties and provide safety for all students, staff, and visitors of the campus.
• Provide first‑class customer service, utilizing excellent verbal skills when dealing with the public.
• Complete clear and concise incident reports.
• Support team goals by demonstrating continued effort through adversity.

This position works a rotating 2‑3‑2 schedule, 12‑hour shifts from 6:00pm–6:00am. Campus Safety services 24hours a day, 365 days a year.

• High‑school graduate or GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license for the state of North Carolina.
• Efficient and effective computer and software utilization skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of experience in a campus safety or security related field, or knowledge of law enforcement, criminal investigations, emergency management, parking and traffic control, crowd control techniques, and prior experience in related or other fields such as emergency services, security, or law enforcement.
