Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Digs holes, installs piping, and performs debris removal after the job is complete.
- Replaces non-operating meters, meter boxes, and lids.
- Discontinues and reinstates water services and secures final reading for customer service.
- Installs, repairs, and services water lines, fire hydrants, and valves.
- Loads truck with supplies and materials needed to complete the job.
- Performs other similar duties as required.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
- Positions require standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Very Heavy:
Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50–100 pounds frequently, or 20–50 pounds constantly. - Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, and physical hazards.
- Reading and interpreting data.
- Performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Operating machinery and hand tools.
- Communication and interpersonal skills applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
High school diploma or equivalency, with at least one (1) year of relevant experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
