Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic Needed
This role focuses on diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy construction and land clearing equipment, including excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, and a fleet of trucks. You will perform both shop and field repairs, ensure equipment reliability through preventative maintenance, and uphold high safety and quality standards while supporting ongoing construction and land clearing operations.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, and a fleet of trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and greasing to keep equipment in optimal condition.
- Inspect equipment regularly for wear, damage, and safety concerns, and take corrective action as needed.
- Complete preventative maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset life.
- Repair and service diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, undercarriages, brakes, transmissions, and related components.
- Perform both shop-based and field-based repairs to support equipment uptime on active job sites.
- Maintain accurate and detailed service and repair records for all equipment serviced.
- Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Coordinate with equipment operators and supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize disruption to operations.
- Assist with equipment setup, mobilization, and demobilization to and from job sites.
- Support construction and land clearing operations by keeping construction equipment and truck fleets in safe, reliable working order.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues using sound diagnostic practices.
- 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in construction or land clearing environments.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and diesel maintenance, including diagnosis and repair.
- Proficiency with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience working with electrical systems on heavy equipment and trucks.
- Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, and construction equipment fleets.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues quickly and accurately and develop effective repair plans.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and service on heavy-duty equipment and trucks.
- Familiarity with brakes, transmissions, engines, and undercarriage systems on heavy-duty equipment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work independently in the field and in the shop with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to following safety standards and OSHA regulations in all repair and maintenance activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with major equipment brands such as Caterpillar (CAT), Deere, Komatsu, or similar manufacturers.
- Experience in construction equipment maintenance and service.
- Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and heavy-duty mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance for trucks and construction equipment.
- Ability to maintain clear and accurate equipment service and repair documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across diesel, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Comfort working on a variety of equipment types used in construction and land clearing projects.
