Class Fitness Instructor
Pay: $35 per hour

Government Center - Concord, NC
Schedule: 2‑5 hours per week (part‑time contract). Schedule will depend upon class, activity scheduling, and location.
OverviewWe are looking for passionate, energetic health and fitness instructors to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will assist in delivering high‑quality fitness instruction, helping clients achieve their health and wellness goals while making a positive impact on our community's fitness journey. Candidates should be eager to learn, grow their knowledge base, and possess strong customer‑service skills.
Responsibilities- Design and lead fitness classes for a wide range of demographics.
- Modify exercise programs for all ages and fitness levels.
- Attend all scheduled fitness classes or arrange an appropriate substitute for absences.
- Attend paid instructor meetings.
- Instruct and monitor participants regarding safe exercise principles and technique.
- Teach classes at special events as required.
- Perform related tasks as required.
- Active fitness certification in a designated area (e.g., Strength Training, Yoga & Pilates, Senior Fitness, Balance & Mobility, Mindfulness Coaching, Sport Training, Hula, Bootcamp, Health Coaching, Relaxation/Meditation, Aerobics, Dance).
- Adult CPR/AED certification.
- 6 months of experience with older adults preferred.
- For disciplines such as dance, yoga, Pilates, etc.: at least 6 months of experience in the respective discipline.

- American Council on Exercise (ACE)
- National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA)
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
- International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA)
- Other licensures and certifications considered with applicable experience and degrees.
Thorough knowledge of the instructor’s applied specialty; ability to organize effective exercise programming for participants; ability to communicate with participants and staff; ability to present ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public; and ability to attend work regularly.
Physical RequirementsThis is normally light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work requires standing and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required; hearing and visual acuity are required. The worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
