Pay Rate: $20.50 per hour
Shift: 4 days per week, 10–12 hours per day. Start time 5:00 am. Day off determined by the assigned route. Ideal candidate will be able to work 1 overnight run weekly. Candidate must live within 30 miles of this location.
I.Job Summary
The Medical Waste Route Driver is responsible for servicing assigned accounts with the highest level of customer service, ensuring waste pickup and delivery meet all regulatory requirements. Duties include transporting waste from WMHS or customer sites to transfer or processing locations, and operating company‑equipped vehicles that include camera telematics, an electronic logging device, and GPS.
II.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage assigned routes, ensuring waste pickup is safe, timely, and accurate.
- Pick up and transport waste in compliance with federal, provincial, and local rules and regulations.
- Plan daily schedule based on customer needs using daily paperwork such as manifest and route sheets.
- Follow routing software schedule.
- Prepare and load trucks for the day, ensuring supplies are added and waste is secured.
- Confirm customers have properly packaged waste before pickup.
- Provide the highest level of customer service, communicating issues such as re‑routes or container adjustments to the supervisor or dispatcher.
- Secure waste, supplies, and material handling equipment before operating on public highways.
- Complete and return all required paperwork accurately and legibly; maintain the DOT Driver Log if applicable.
- Communicate route changes or customer issues to supervisors or dispatchers; report problems before the close of business each day.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip maintenance on the assigned truck; report maintenance issues for follow‑up.
- Use the electronic logging device and Geotab to log hours per DOT guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
A.
Required Qualifications
- 0–1 year of experience, preferably in driving box trucks and route management.
- Mandatory immunizations and credentialing may be required based on customer requirements.
- Valid driver’s license.
- All CMV drivers must be able to obtain a medical card from a certified examiner.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (accredited).
- 3 years of route driving and box truck experience.
- Flexible with schedules.
- Team player attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
- Work in vehicle garages, shops, gas plant conditions, and outside environments with inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
- Safety‑sensitive role requiring strict compliance with all safety rules and protocols; drug and alcohol testing as per company policy.
