Forklift Operator, Material Handler
Job Summary
This job is responsible for operating a forklift for the purpose of locating, picking, staging and loading customer orders. The individual is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and radio frequency bar code equipment and may also be required to perform pick and pack duties along with loading and unloading trucks from suppliers. This position is a 9 am to 5 pm, Monday‑Friday role.
The employee is strictly accountable and responsible for recording all product transactions and product movements.
- Pick order properly and move to staging area.
- Record all transaction with the RF gun to proper location.
- Properly package all orders for secure transportation to final location.
- Unload and load any transfer trailers and supplier shipments.
- Assist in Pick and Pack area to pull orders whenever needed.
- Keep warehouse and storage areas neat and clean, including compactor and dumpster area.
- Maintain proper inventory by using correct scanning procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- 1‑3 years’ forklift experience.
- 1‑3 years’ experience in loading and unloading trucks.
- Experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing/shipping environment.
- Ability to operate computers and radio frequency bar code equipment.
- Good communication skills.
- Team oriented and also able to work independently.
- Knowledge in the use of scanning guns.
- Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends if needed.
- Must be flexible on working hours during heavy business days.
The employee is regularly required to drive a forklift; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Must routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to move product up to 12 ft in length. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WorkEnvironment
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, cold, hot, and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
