The Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer is responsible for programming, adjustments and layout of parts on CMM using PC DMIS from both model and or/drawings. Evaluate and communicate the CMM reports. Able to read GD&T drawings. Experience with inspecting CNC multi-axis machined castings with both CMM and applicable hand gages. To assure equipment is set-up check parts per customer specifications/requirements. Follows PPE and safety requirements.
Aware of company quality and environmental policy.
Duties and responsibilities
- Program CMM using PC DMIS software from both model and/or drawings.
- Read and interpret GD&T drawings and/or blueprints.
- Evaluate and communicate CMM reports.
- Make adjustments to programs as required.
- Inspect CNC multi-axis machined castings with both CMM and applicable hand gages.
- Responsible for daily, monthly and annual layouts per procedures.
- Assists with Gage calibrations and gage R&R studies.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft office software.
- Responsible for preparing customer inspection reports using Data Page, Minitab, and/or other SPC software.
- Maintain records / required paperwork for position and keep work area clean.
- Aware of consequences to employee, customer and environment if procedures are not followed.
- All other duties as deemed necessary by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's Degree in a mathematics or engineering discipline OR High School Diploma /GED and minimum of 2 years’ related experience in inspection of complex machined parts.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret safety, operating, and procedural manuals, common technical information and reports, including the ability to read and understand blueprints and GD&T.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
- Extreme attention to detail, organized, and accurate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, utilizing critical thinking skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
Working conditions and environment
General office and regular exposure to plant environment requiring PPE of safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toed shoes. Occasional travel for meetings.
CMM, computer, hand tools, gauges and fixtures, general office equipment.
