The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for complex tax activities, including preparation and planning of corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, and for day‑to‑day client interaction.
Essential Functions- Prepare complex corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns and planning with no direct supervision
- Conduct appropriate research regarding tax issues to ensure accuracy/implementation of specific tax law and provide guidance to clients or suggest alternatives
- Use financial records and other statements to make adjustments and keep clients’ tax liability low
- Manage daily client workflow and multiple client projects simultaneously
- Complete assignments within timeline and budget
- Regularly and proactively correspond with clients regarding status of projects
- Participate in planning and scheduling client engagements
- Keep client team apprised of any client contact to avoid duplicate requests
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Master’s degree in accounting, taxation or related field
- Minimum 5 years of accounting and tax experience
- Experience with a variety of income tax filings; e.g., S‑Corp, partnership, trust, individual
- Understanding of and sensitivity to confidential information
- Ability to meet time constraints and client deadlines
- Ability to work overtime from January to April 15 (may exceed 55 hours per week). Occasional overtime required during the year
- Ability to multi‑task and manage a complex workload to meet reporting deadlines
