University of Connecticut, Facilities Operations, Storrs Campus. 2nd Shift Tue‑Sat 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.; 3rd Shift Tue‑Sat 12:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Position SummaryPermanent two positions as Clerk Typist/Office Assistant in the Operations Center. The role functions as a Work Order Dispatcher with focus on customer service, entering service requests into the AiM system, determining priorities, assigning trades, running reports, researching issues and statuses, monitoring shared email, filing and preparing correspondence, and completing special projects.
Work Schedules- 2nd Shift, Tuesday – Saturday, 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
- 3rd Shift, Tuesday – Saturday, 12:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Answer phones, enter service requests, determine work order priorities, assign trade(s) and run necessary reports.
- Monitor shared email accounts, file documents, prepare correspondence and cross‑train in other clerical tasks.
- Complete special projects and ensure accurate data entry and report preparation.
- Supervise and train student employees when required.
- Attend emergency closures or delayed openings during inclement weather or significant events.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, teamwork commitment and customer service experience.
- Ability to work independently on shift schedules and during emergencies.

- Clerk Typist: 6 months as a typist or equivalent; high‑school graduation with typing coursework.
- Office Assistant: 2 years of general clerical work experience; college training may substitute up to 2 years.
- 2–3 years of customer service experience.
- 2–3 years experience using AiM or similar computerized maintenance management software.
- High reliability.
- Knowledge of trade terminology (HVACR, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.) and building systems.
- Ability to multi‑task and prioritize work independently.
Employment contingent upon successful pre‑employment criminal background check.
