Under the direction of the Director of Education & Compliance Program Development, the Compliance and Youth Protection Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the University’s compliance and youth protection programs. The Compliance and Youth Protection Coordinator will provide integral support to the Office of University Compliance by coordinating the youth protection program; developing and providing outreach and education;
responding to compliance and youth protection concerns; facilitating compliance monitoring activities; and supporting additional key compliance initiatives and projects as assigned.
- Coordinates and administers the University’s Youth Protection Program for all campuses, promoting program development that supports the participation of minors in a safe environment.
- Develops and facilitates presentations and trainings on UConn’s Youth Protection Program, applicable policies and laws, and youth program best practices.
- Independently monitors and evaluates program compliance with University Youth Protection Program requirements including registration, background screenings, supervision ratios, and training, and recommends corrective actions when needed.
- Collaborates with various internal stakeholders to promote best practices in administering protective measures for youth programs and develops resources such as guidance documents and template forms.
- Audits and makes improvements to programmatic processes and workflows to enhance effectiveness and maintains accurate internal standard operating procedures that support consistent administration.
- Manages the day-to-day workflow of the Minor Protection Program registration system, providing timely communication to prospective and registered program contacts.
- Assists with the review, interpretation, and revision of relevant policies and procedures.
- Conduct consultation meetings with program contacts to provide guidance and ensure programs are designed in accordance with established requirements and/or best practices.
- Prepares and analyzes regular reports on the Minor Protection Program; identifies program trends and needs and makes recommendations for enhancements.
- Maintains a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, rules, and standards and keeps abreast of trends impacting youth protection practices in higher education.
- Responds to questions regarding child abuse and neglect reporting obligations and provides resources and guidance in line with applicable laws and policies.
- Maintains and revises the Minor Protection website and assists with other University Compliance websites, as needed.
- Conducts program site-visits, evaluating compliance with program requirements, identifying potential risks, and providing recommendations to enhance program design and youth protection.
- Supports the coordination and facilitation of the Minor Protection Oversight Committee.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the Minor Protection Program using DOJ effectiveness guidelines, identifies and implements enhancements.
- Assists with the development of general compliance and ethics education and training.
- Current University of Connecticut employee on regular payroll.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of supporting adherence to organizational compliance in higher education.
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders across a large, complex organization.
- Demonstrated presentation and communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated professional judgement and experience analyzing, applying, and communicating policies and procedures.
- Professional experience in a consultative capacity, providing guidance to stakeholders.
- Experience independently and effectively developing and managing multiple projects and tasks and appropriately prioritizing meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated technical acumen with experience effectively managing a workflow or process involving multiple stakeholders within an electronic system or platform.
