The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Broadcast Engineer (Assistant Manager, Athletics Video Services). This individual will be a member of the Department of Video Services within the Division of Athletics. The daily assignments and responsibilities will be provided by the Associate Athletic Director for Broadcast and Video Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities will include: coordinating various gameday live production operations (capturing, editing, and reproduction of video) for Athletics events; capturing and editing high quality video content to be used on multiple University and Athletics platforms; assisting with maintenance and technical problems related to equipment; assisting with the implementation of new technologies and workflow enhancements; executing and operating video equipment and components during Athletics events;
maintaining a working knowledge of industry-standard broadcast and video board technologies; additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in media or related field.
- Three or more years of experience in the field of sports video with technical ability to produce a variety of high-quality video materials.
- Demonstrated skill in operating and capability with video equipment and systems and ability to diagnose problems.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of video equipment, live production equipment, and related software, and the ability to perform maintenance on equipment.
- Appropriate knowledge of NCAA rules.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and others.
- Demonstrated work experience in collegiate athletics live gameday production and producing creative video content at a Division 1 college or university.
- Knowledge in the recruitment and training of student assistants.
- Demonstrated familiarity with the following equipment:
Dreamcatcher, 3-Play, Xpression, AJT, Ross Carbonite, Daktronics Show Control, Broadcast Pix and Clear Coms Free Speak. - Must have experience in live production sets including knowledge of field and studio lighting and audio equipment.
- Knowledge of computers and software programs (Mac and Adobe Creative Suite).
- Demonstrated ability in the setup and operation of Sony DSLR and cine cameras, Hitachi, and Panasonic PTZ cameras.
- Experience in press conferences and special event live streaming (Obs Studio & Vimeo).
- Coordination of broadcast feed distribution with regional sports networks including: transmission checks, lip sync, and commercial traffic.
- Two (2) years of knowledge and experience in the use and service of control room equipment including:
Ross Carbonite Switcher, Ross Xpression, & Ross Ultrix, Dremcatcher Network, Daktronics Show Control, DvSport, Clear Comm Arcadia.
