Danbury Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to students with IEPs through both pull‑out and push‑in support models. The Resource Teacher will work to meet students’ academic and behavioral goals in alignment with the general education curriculum and state standards. The ideal candidate is student‑centered, collaborative, flexible, and committed to fostering inclusive environments that support diverse learners.
This position requires close collaboration with general education teachers, families, and support staff to foster student growth and achievement across academic and functional skill areas.
- Provide Targeted, Individualized Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction in a Resource Room or through push‑in support, aligned with student IEP goals and the general education curriculum.
- Utilize Diagnostic Instruments: Use diagnostic assessments to measure and track student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to support individual learning goals.
- Data Management: Maintain and utilize a data management system to track progress towards IEP goals and objectives, ensuring that adjustments are made based on measurable outcomes.
- Develop and Implement IEPs: Actively participate in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student, ensuring they reflect students’ strengths, needs, and progress. Write well‑crafted IEPs that support individualized learning goals.
- Differentiated Instruction: Deliver content using specialized instructional materials and differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students, utilizing accommodations and modifications as appropriate.
- Behavioral Support: Develop and implement individual, classroom, and school‑wide behavioral plans for students as needed. Work to improve student behavior through data collection and behavioral interventions.
- Consultation with Teachers and Related Services: Regularly collaborate with general education teachers and related services staff to monitor student progress, share strategies, and adjust instruction as needed to support student learning.
- Diagnostic Observations: Perform regular classroom observations to collect diagnostic data, inform instruction, and improve student learning experiences.
