Catholic Academy of Waterbury (CAW), a Catholic elementary school, is searching for a part-time Spanish teacher (Grades 5-8) for the  academic year. CAW, with its fully degreed faculty, takes pride in its accredited curriculum and programs. CAW offers a wide range of educational, spiritual and extracurricular activities. Its motivated students, engaged parents, expert staff, and its supportive parish family are the hallmarks of CAW.

Responsibilities would include creating an engaging learning environment that fosters academic and spiritual growth, develops 5th-8th grade students’ target language skills and a love of learning Spanish. The candidate should be competent at instructing fifth-eighth graders and ensuring their spiritual and academic growth. In addition, the candidate must be able to assist students who may need additional support.

• Develop and implement daily lesson plans that address spiritual, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
• Use diverse instructional techniques such as modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
• Adapt curriculum to meet individual learning needs and initiate referrals when necessary.
• Promote positive behavior through redirection, positive reinforcement, and adherence to the school’s behavioral policies.
• Maintain positive communication with families through newsletters, daily updates, and as‑needed outreach.
• Attend regular staff meetings and participate in annual reviews and professional development.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.

• Bachelor's degree is required and World Language teacher certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years classroom experience.
• Strong understanding of target language (Spanish) developmental stages.
• Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
• Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and faith-based environment.
• A practicing member in good standing of the Catholic faith.
