LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for Substitute Teacher openings at The Friendship School in Waterford, Connecticut.

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining the classroom program in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

The Substitute Teacher is responsible to the Principal of the school.

• Maintain each student’s learning in a well‑organized, positive classroom environment.
• Work cooperatively with staff, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Maintain professional attitudes and competence.
• Effectively manage student behavior.
• Follow guidelines with regard to record keeping, documentation, and reporting.
• Communicate matters pertaining to self, student, program and agency to the classroom teacher.
• Model appropriate social skills and behaviors.
• Direct and monitor instructional assistants and other persons assigned to the classroom.
• Be mindful of any problem or special information about individual students.
• Alert administrator to any problem, information, or situations, which may require further action.
• Be punctual in meeting daily time schedules.
• Perform other duties associated with the substitute teaching position.
• Train new users at LEARN and in the region in student data applications.
• Assess information systems results by auditing their application and results.
• Attend initial meetings with potential member districts to assess services LEARN can provide.
• Build effective relations with all internal and external stakeholders in order to be a strategic and resourceful partner.
• Maintain awareness of the latest technology, trends, and developments related to Power School.
• Other duties as appropriately assigned.

• Bachelor's degree required.
