About the OpportunityBTWA Elementary School seeks a dynamic, mission‑driven Associate Dean of Instruction (Humanities Focus) to join our leadership team and help shape our academic vision for literacy, social studies, and the broader humanities. In this pivotal instructional leadership role, you will spearhead the design and implementation of a rigorous, culturally relevant curriculum and instructional model that challenges our K–4 scholars to excel while ensuring equity, inclusion, and joyful learning.
Working closely with classroom teachers, grade‑level teams, and the School Principal, you will drive academic excellence in humanities by transforming instructional practices, leading direct coaching and classroom observations, and embedding data‑driven decision‑making throughout the school. You will also lead targeted professional development sessions, evaluate instructional strategies through interim assessments, and support teachers in designing, planning, and refining humanities curriculum and literacy instruction.
This role requires a collaborative partner — working hand in hand with school leadership and the broader instructional team — to ensure that academic rigor in humanities is seamlessly integrated with our broader school culture and character development. Key Responsibilities of the RoleAs the Associate Dean of Instruction (Humanities Focus) at BTWA ES, you will be primarily responsible for:
Instructional Leadership & Humanities Curriculum ExecutionCurricular Vision
- Develop and implement a rigorous, culturally relevant, and engaging humanities curriculum—spanning literacy (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) and social studies—that aligns with BTWA’s mission and prepares scholars for college and beyond.
- Ensure vertical alignment and coherence of humanities instruction across K–4 grade levels, building a strong foundation in literacy skills and content knowledge.
- Integrate diverse, high‑quality texts and culturally responsive materials that affirm and reflect the identities and experiences of BTWA scholars.
Innovative Instruction
- Lead the adoption of innovative and differentiated instructional practices, incorporating blended learning, digital tools, and personalized strategies that engage all learners across humanities disciplines.
- Champion a love of reading, writing, and storytelling as pathways for scholar voice, critical thinking, and academic identity development.
