West Woods Upper Elementary seeks a Special Service Paraprofessional in the SLC (Specialized Learning Center). The position is 6.5 hours per day (not including a 30‑minute unpaid lunch) for the school year.
Position includes 8 paid holidays, 12 sick days, 3 personal days. Eligible for health insurance, life insurance and long‑term disability.
Qualifications- A candidate should hold an Associate’s degree or 2 years of college diploma or equivalent (e.g., Para Pathways Assessment). Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
- Consideration will be given to the following:
- Ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form.
- Various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate’s overall preparedness. Prior experience working with school‑age children is a plus.
Salary Scale – Paraprofessional $24.90 – $29.11 per hour, dependent upon experience (Per FPSEU contract).
General DescriptionThe Special Service Paraprofessional will provide personal care/hygiene (lifting up to 50 pounds, toileting) and assist with medicine regimen. The paraprofessional may provide instructional services and classroom support, including carrying out teacher‑prepared lesson plans, supervising teacher‑planned activities, assisting in the preparation of instructional materials, and recording individual progress of students.

- Corrects minor behavioral problems
- PMT and restraint training
- Escorts students to other classes
