Schedule: Two 12‑week semesters:
Fall semester starts Monday, September 21, 2026
Spring semester starts Monday, January 25, 2026
Pay: $50.08 per hour
Qualifications- Demonstrates proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics and is able to instruct RLA and Social Studies according to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
- Demonstrates proficient computer skills.
- Meets the requirements of the Windsor Board of Education for this position.
- Maintains the Adult Education Endorsement 107 and provides a copy to the program facilitator.
- Adheres to and complies with all mandates set forth by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Provide numeracy instruction for high school equivalency and work readiness to students.
Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrates knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Connecticut Competency System (CCS), including the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment (CASAS) Competencies.
- Uses CASAS Pre/Post Assessment results to plan and differentiate instruction based on learners’ abilities and goals.
- Effectively communicates with students.
- Provides opportunities for students to receive out‑of‑class instruction and assistance.
- Works with the Program Facilitator in implementing the CCS.
- Teachers use the Blended Learning Environment Model for their students.
- Attends staff meetings at the beginning of each semester and as needed.
- Supports the adult education program by attending the annual Awards Ceremony and the CAACE Conference in March.
- Is on time for all scheduled classes.
- Supervises assigned class and does not leave students unsupervised.
- Effectively organizes time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction.
- Establishes a positive learning environment and enforces student behavior contracts as outlined in the student handbook.
- Follows up with students who have poor attendance.
- Enters timely and accurate student attendance in the LACES reporting system.
- Effectively assesses student needs and progress using the CASAS Assessment System with guidance from the Program Facilitators.
- Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development as it relates to the teaching‑learning process.
- Staff development is offered in accordance with professional needs and program objectives.
- Teachers are knowledgeable and comfortable using technology for planning and instruction, including laptops, desktops, iPads, Chromebooks, Smart Boards, projectors, Gmail, and Google Docs.
