Two 12‑week semesters. Fall semester starts Monday, September 21, 2026. Spring semester starts Monday, January 25, 2027.

$50.08/hr.

The qualified teacher will demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, mathematics and be able to instruct RLA and Social Studies according to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The teacher will demonstrate proficient computer skills. The teacher shall obtain and maintain certification requirements established by Connecticut State Statutes and meet the requirements of the Windsor Board of Education for this position.

• Windsor Adult Education teachers must maintain current Adult Education Endorsements and provide a copy to the program facilitator (endorsement 107).
• Windsor Adult Education staff and employees must adhere and comply with all mandates set forth by the Connecticut State Department of Education.

Provide numeracy instruction for high school equivalency and work readiness to students.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (CCS).
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Connecticut Competency System (CCS), including the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment (CASAS) Competencies.
• Use results from CASAS pre/post assessment to plan and differentiate instruction based on learner’s abilities and goals.
• Effectively communicate with students.
• Provide opportunities for students to receive out‑of‑class instruction and/or assistance.
• Work with Program Facilitator in the implementation of the Connecticut Competency System (CCS).
• Use the Blended Learning Environment model for students.

• Must be on time for all scheduled classes.
• Must supervise assigned class and not leave students unsupervised at any time.
• Will effectively organize time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction.
• Will establish a positive learning environment, enforcing student behavior contracts as outlined in the student handbook.
• Will follow up with students who have poor attendance.
• Will enter timely and accurate student attendance in the LACES reporting system.

• Effectively assess student needs and progress using the CASAS Assessment System with guidance from Program Facilitators.
• Awareness of Individual Needs
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development as it relates to the teaching‑learning process.
• Professional Development, Meetings and Awards Ceremony
• Staff development is offered in accordance with the professional needs of the staff and the instructional objectives of the program.
• Windsor Adult Education Teachers will agree and adhere to the Windsor Public Schools Professional Growth Policy P4120.
• Attend staff meetings at the beginning of each semester and as needed. Meetings will be scheduled by the adult education facilitator.
• All staff are strongly encouraged to support the adult education program and the students by attending the annual Awards Ceremony.
• All staff are strongly encouraged to support the adult education program by attending the annual Connecticut Association for Adult and Continuing Education (CAACE) Conference held in March.
• Technology
• Windsor Adult Education Teachers will be knowledgeable and comfortable using technology for planning and instruction, including computers (laptop/desktop), iPad, Chromebook, Smart board, projector, etc.
• Windsor Adult Education Teachers will be knowledgeable and comfortable using Gmail and Google Docs.
