Special Education Teacher
For the 2026-27 school year, Greenwich Public Schools seeks two special education teachers for Greenwich High School. The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives, follows state-mandated due process procedures and functions as the IEP Case Manager to assigned students. Responsibilities include completing triennial evaluations for individual students using a variety of assessment methods, participating as a member of the Planning and Placement Team (PPT), developing and implementing an annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) in developing the Present Levels of Educational Performance, appropriate goals, and objectives, employing various teaching strategies, methods, and principles of learning to assist students in achieving their IEP goals, effectively managing the classroom and student behavior, and collaborating and consulting with educational professionals and community service providers.
Qualifications include current CT Special Education Teacher certification, or certifiability, is required (e.g., #065). Experience is preferred but not required. Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of special education is also required.
