Catholic Academy of Waterbury (CAW), a Catholic elementary school, is searching for a full-time Middle School Literature and Social Studies teacher for the academic year. CAW, with its fully degreed faculty, takes pride in its Archdiocesan curriculum and programs. CAW offers a wide range of educational, spiritual and extracurricular activities. The candidate should be competent at instructing Middle School Literature and Social Studies to middle schools and ensuring their spiritual and academic growth. In addition, the candidate must be able to assist students who may need additional support.
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities would include creating an engaging learning environment that fosters academic and spiritual growth, develops middle school students’ skills and a love of learning. The candidate should be competent at instructing literature and social studies to middle school students and ensuring their spiritual and academic growth. In addition, the candidate must be able to assist students who may need additional support.
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that address spiritual, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
- Use diverse instructional techniques such as modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
- Adapt curriculum to meet individual learning needs and initiate referrals when necessary.
- Promote positive behavior through redirection, positive reinforcement, and adherence to the school’s behavioral policies.
- Maintain positive communication with families through newsletters, daily updates, and as-needed outreach.
- Attend regular staff meetings and participate in annual reviews and professional development.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
The Candidate must have a:
- Bachelor's degree and teacher certification are required.
- Minimum of 2 years classroom experience.
- Strong understanding of middle schoolers’ developmental stages.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
- Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and faith-based environment.
- Be a practicing member of the Catholic faith.
