Position Summary

Sharon Center School is seeking a highly qualified, collaborative, and student‑centered educator for an anticipated 0.6 FTE World Language Teacher position beginning with the 2026–2027 school year.

We welcome candidates with Connecticut certification in Spanish, French, or another World Language who are passionate about language instruction, cultural awareness, and helping students become confident communicators. The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards‑based instruction for students in grades K–8, fostering language acquisition, cultural understanding, and a lifelong appreciation for world languages.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑based world language instruction for students in grades K–8.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages communication, collaboration, and confidence in language learning.
  • Incorporate speaking, listening, reading, and writing through authentic and engaging learning experiences.
  • Promote cultural awareness and global citizenship through language instruction.
  • Assess student learning and use assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school‑wide initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required;
    Master's Degree preferred.
  • Valid Connecticut teaching certification in World Language, including but not limited to:
    • 023 – Spanish
    • 018 – French
    • Other applicable World Language certifications will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of world language pedagogy and second language acquisition.
  • Experience working with upper elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive learning environment.
