Job Description

The Academy of the Holy Family , a small, all-girls Catholic high school dedicated to the academic and spiritual formation of young women, seeks a dynamic and dedicated World Language Teacher for the upcoming academic year. We have a small population, and our students are from the local area, the US, and around the world. The school is owned and operated by the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in teaching Spanish, French, or Latin and will be committed to fostering a classroom environment that integrates academic excellence with the values of the Catholic faith.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Instructional Excellence: Design and implement engaging lesson plans that develop students' proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and listening (or translation and linguistic analysis for Latin).
  • Faith Integration: Incorporate Catholic social teachings and values into the curriculum, celebrating the cultural and spiritual heritage of the language’s history.
  • Student Formation: Act as a mentor to young women, promoting a culture of respect, confidence, and leadership within an all-girls educational setting.
  • Assessment & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student progress, provide timely feedback, and utilize data to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in faculty meetings, retreats, liturgies, and school-wide events. Serve as a faculty advisor for language clubs or extracurricular activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in education or in the target language (Spanish, French, or Latin) or World Language Education is required (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification or eligibility for certification in a private/parochial school setting.
  • Faith Alignment: A commitment to the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching at the secondary level (9–12) is preferred, particularly in an all-girls or small-school environment.
  • Skills:
    * Fluency in the target language (Native or Near-Native proficiency).
    • Proficiency in educational technology (LMS, interactive whiteboards, language learning apps).
    • Strong classroom management and interpersonal communication skills.
