JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of an Associate Director of the UConn Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills, the Assistant Director for Alumni Relations is charged with creating and implementing a strategic plan to engage UConn alumni to further student success. The Assistant Director for Alumni Relations will work with the Center’s Career Everywhere team to engage alumni via the Career Champion Program and further establish resources enabling UConn students to engage with alumni.

DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build, direct and implement a comprehensive and strategic engagement plan which creates and fosters valuable resources for alumni and positive relationships with UConn to help further success of students from diverse backgrounds, identities and disciplines.
  • Create, administer and execute successful and innovative alumni Career Everywhere programming.
  • As part of the Corporate Partner Relations Team, the Assistant Director for Alumni Relations will partner with colleagues to coordinate and facilitate programming and opportunities for alumni at targeted companies and organizations.
  • Educate staff around mentoring software that can be embedded into one-on-one coaching, programming, and other department initiatives.
  • Recruit UConn alumni to volunteer for career/industry related panels, programs, and short/long-term initiatives.
  • Responsible for developing metrics and measuring outcomes for the strategic engagement plan and its overall programs, operations and communications regarding alumni engagement and initiatives offered through the UConn Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills.
  • Partner with Assessment & Technology Coordinator to oversee Alumni Mentoring software, develop strategy around engaging alumni and students for mutual beneficial conversations and networking; work with departments on campus who want to engage on the platform for one off mentoring programming.
  • Partner with UConn Foundation team to identify and engage alumni at the corporate level and visit their business locations to build corporate alumni programs.
  • Using a database, track alumni participation in alumni career services to create a highly engaged and connected community of individuals.
  • Support Career Everywhere and the Career Champion Program to manage the community. Serve as the primary liaison to alumni Career Champions.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight alumni in print and electronic communications, special events, website, etc.
  • Market programs, events and initiatives including the Employer/Alumni Career Connections Directory, Career Champions and the Opportunity Fund to a broad network of UConn Alumni.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six years’ professional experience in career development or alumni relations or related field. Two years of experience must be serving as an advanced/senior team member or working as a project lead. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the unique needs of diverse populations and a commitment to equitably addressing these needs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Evidence of analytic and decisive decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in related field and minimum of four years related experience.
  • Experience with in alumni relations, higher education administration, or similar non-profit leadership or related field.
  • Knowledge of and ability to conduct comprehensive research.
  • Experience with career services applicant-tracking systems (i.e. 12

    Twenty).
  • Proven success in strategic program development, implementation and assessment.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively and collaboratively across a complex organization and with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative.
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful experience supporting the unique needs of diverse populations.
APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time 12-month position and may include occasional nights and weekends.
