JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the CEO of QuantumCT, and working closely with the Workforce Pillar Leads, the Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and coordination of workforce development initiatives for the QuantumCT projects. This position reports directly to the UConn Quantum NSF Engine Workforce Lead and CEO. The overall function is to provide the Director with comprehensive operational, logistical, and administrative support.

Major responsibilities include communications and digital presence; event planning and execution; student recruitment, cohort coordination and student support; and tracking participation metrics and programmatic outcomes.

The NSF Quantum Technologies Engine in Connecticut (QuantumCT Engine), led by the University of Connecticut, aims to advance American quantum innovation and secure the domestic quantum supply chain by accelerating the commercialization of quantum technologies for national defense, biotechnology and financial services. Through innovation, applied research leading to new technologies, support for inventors and entrepreneurs and workforce development, the QuantumCT Engine will advance quantum sensing, secured communications, computing, and materials through shared test bed, deep-tech incubator, and translation pathways.

DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of workforce development programs supporting QuantumCT objectives.
  • Design and manage workforce and internship initiatives that provide education, training, upskilling, and professional development opportunities across multiple audiences.
  • Maintain and track program plans, timelines, deliverables, and performance measures for workforce development activities.
  • Research workforce trends in quantum and emerging industry demands to inform and support program development.
  • Coordinate with other NSF Engine Pillar leads to stimulate and engage collaborative workforce development initiatives among project partners and external organizations.
  • Facilitate engagement with employers to identify workforce needs, skills gaps, internship opportunities, and career pathways.
  • Serve as a liaison between QuantumCT leadership and workforce development stakeholders.
  • Coordinate curriculum development activities to ensure educational offerings reflect industry needs and emerging developments in quantum technology.
  • Coordinate outreach and recruitment activities within the state of Connecticut to promote workforce development programs and opportunities.
  • Represent QuantumCT at meetings, workforce events, and industry engagement activities as assigned.
  • Support QuantumCT leadership and staff to facilitate grant proposal development
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree Business Administration, Communications, Education, a relevant STEM field, or a related field.
  • At least three years of professional experience in workforce development, education, training program administration, project management, talent development, or related professional experience.
  • At least one of the three years of experience must be in STEM education and workforce development at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and coordinating educational or workforce development programs.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and related technology platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Three years of experience working with STEM education, advanced technology industries, research institutions, or innovation ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting federally funded workforce development or research initiatives.
  • Experience developing curricula, training programs, instructional materials, or educational content.
  • Experience with workforce development best practices and program evaluation methodologies.
  • Experience tracking performance metrics and assessing program outcomes.
  • Experience working with industry, government, and academic partnerships.
APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, end-dated position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding.
