Per Diem Classroom Assistant | Baltic, Connecticut

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a per diem paraprofessional substitute for the upcoming 26/27 school year. In this vital role, you will provide 1:1 support in an educational setting, working closely with students who have profound or severe disabilities. Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a similar support role within a school setting
• Strongly preferred:
  Direct experience working with individuals with profound or severe disabilities
• Ability to establish compassionate, patient, and consistent rapport with students
• Skilled at collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff
• Demonstrates adaptability and the ability to take initiative in a dynamic environment
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism

Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized support and guidance to assigned students throughout the school day
• Assist with functional, social, and academic tasks as dictated by individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Support classroom management and create an inclusive, engaging atmosphere
• Implement teacher and therapist directives, including accommodations and modifications
• Maintain accurate records of student engagement and progress as directed
• Foster independence and self-advocacy in students whenever possible
