Private Music Instructor

Do you have what it takes to teach electric guitar, cello, or piano? The Town of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is seeking instructors to lead new and exciting one‑on‑one music instruction.

As an instructor, what will I be doing?
  • Preparing curriculum and individualized weekly lesson plans for each student (ages 4 to adult, abilities from basic to advanced).
  • Leading instruction in one-on-one setting for 30 minutes to 1 hour per student.
  • Communicating with parents regarding attendance, practice, and student progress.
  • Keeping attendance records.
  • Leading recitals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What are the requirements?
  • Advanced knowledge in the instrument of instruction.
  • Good knowledge of chronological child development.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with children and their parents.
  • Good communication skills and knowledge of musical instruction techniques.
  • Provide positive guidance for students of all ages and abilities.

Selected candidates will be subject to a background check.

How will I be compensated?
  • Part-time, hourly position with no benefits.
  • Private Instructor with degree: $40 per hour.
  • Private Instructor without degree: $35 per hour.
  • Pay range varies by education level.
