The After School Titans Program will provide students with enrichment, remediation, tutoring, and literacy activities at Turn of River Middle School. Families will be engaged in activities that promote parental involvement. The program will extend the school day by providing after school programs on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Certified Teachers who possess the ability to integrate social and emotional learning with academic support are encouraged to apply.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES- Align and adjust classroom strategies and activities to academic Standards.
- Incorporate study skills and social emotional learning into after-school programs that may be based on student interest and passion.
- Complete all data and information related to grant guidelines, i.e. surveys and attendance information.
- Plan and create differentiated lessons to address individual student learning styles.
- Facilitate successful learning experiences for the targeted groups of students.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment so all students can interact and learn.
- Provide information to the students' regular school classes regarding their work in the after school program.
- Provide Project Manager with information for regular communication with families.
- Connecticut Educator Certificate.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
- Passionate about working with students.
- Demonstrated expertise with current district curriculum initiatives.
- Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively with others.
- Demonstrated experience matching teaching and learning strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate reading and writing within academic subject areas.
- Demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction.
The academic program is offered from October - May on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. After school Titans teachers will be employed to teach 1 hour academic enrichment classes. There is flexibility in hours and days as classes are not required to meet each day. Days and hours will be mutually agreed upon by the teacher and building principal, before the program starts.
The program may require additional hours per week for grants related data and staff meetings while the program is in session.
Compensation as per current teachers' contract.
