Research

Topic and Significance

This postdoctoral fellowship focuses on renewable energy engineering, with an emphasis on energy systems expansion planning and the techno-economic assessment of energy technologies. The research is embedded within the Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG), which is at the forefront of the global energy transition. SERG’s work is critical in informing sustainable energy systems and policy designs, including the development of future fuels, carbon capture and storage, and enhancing climate and hazard resiliency.

Details

The successful candidate will join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) as a Research Associate or Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The role includes applying specialist research-related skills in renewable energy engineering, undertaking research tasks, contributing to externally funded projects, and teaching energy-related courses (20% of the workload). The position is full-time (37.5 hours per week), fixed-term for two years, and offers opportunities for collaboration with other researchers and for involvement in ongoing and future projects.

Within the Sustainable Energy Research Group, the focus is on energy systems modelling to support the global energy transition.
