What You Will Do
Pratt & Whitney is constructing an Advanced Casting Foundry (ACF) within its Asheville, NC factory. We’re looking for an experienced Business Unit Leader who can assist the ACF with its production startup and long‑term production planning.
Key Responsibilities- Be part of a cross‑functional team charged with standing up a greenfield foundry in Asheville.
- Define and build a team that is responsive and flexible, empowering employees from supervisors to operators, to meet the business commitments.
- Manage and coach work‑area supervisors that are responsible for supervising a multishift organization.
- Accountable for leading EH&S, continuous process improvement opportunities, hourly staff planning, and critical resource allocation to ensure that business metrics are met.
- Assist in the development of strategic planning such as the development of forecasts, financial planning, training, and capital expenditures.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and interpersonal skills are important; the ability to thrive in a team environment with high‑performance expectations.
- Establish work schedules taking into account customer requirements, resource availability, and other priorities.
- Hold employees accountable while maintaining a key working relationship.
- Drive world‑class safety culture and respond to all EH&S requirements promptly.
- Develop monthly delivery plans that align with customer needs and satisfy financial obligations.
- Oversight over supplier value stream.
- A university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and communicate with peers, customers, and clients.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
- Green Belt Six Sigma certification.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
- Understanding and ability to drive quality and customer satisfaction.
- Self‑directed, quick learner, track record of proven results.
- U.S. citizenship required due to government contracts.
- Master’s degree in engineering, operations, business or a technical field with 7+ years of aerospace operations experience, or bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business, or a technical field with 12+ years of aerospace operations experience.
- Knowledge of turbine blade value stream and investment casting processes.
- Black Belt Six Sigma certification.
- Lean manufacturing certification.
