Responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to commercial engine hot and cold section rotating components. Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process is required. Coordinate structural analysis requirements for repairs with other ASE technical disciplines and module centers/Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs). Provide technical coaching and mentoring to entry level structures engineers.
Participate on multi‑disciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and life requirements. Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable. Analysis may include both classical methods and/or detailed finite element analysis (FEA) ASE Structures provides a work environment that fosters increased development fundamentals with knowledge development of fracture mechanics and finite element analysis (ANSYS) modeling, as well as good engineering judgment, with an eye on “common sense”.
Coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering processes/methods, and document and present results to management and other technical leaders. Primary focal for structural analysis memos (SAMs).
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 5 years of engineering experience or 3 years with an advanced degree
- U.S. Person/Green Card holder
- Working knowledge of ANSYS or other FEA software
- Awareness of manufacturing repair processes (experience a plus)
- Experience using Pratt & Whitney/industry fatigue and fracture mechanics lifing systems: PWLIFE, ARLS, or crack growth (SURCK, Darwin, Franc3D) systems a plus
- Strong understanding of low cycle fatigue (LCF) and fatigue / fracture mechanics theory and applications
- Background in structural analysis or mechanical design
- Salary range: 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD
