WhatYou Will Do
- Guide the creation and execution of the strategic vision for Discipline, including identifying long‑term strategic technology roadmaps and securing internal & external funding.
- Manage and lead a team of skilled engineers and technicians focused on high‑temperature alloy development to support both next‑generation engine designs and sustainment of the existing fleet.
- Establish project prioritization, allocate resources appropriately and hold team members accountable for achieving committed objectives on schedule.
- Provide technical mentorship and coaching to direct reports on management and communication of risk and the execution of risk‑based decision making.
- Evaluate team performance and develop a strategic plan to attract new talent to continue knowledge transition to the next generation of alloys engineers.
- Attract, hire, develop, and retain talent by coaching, encouraging, challenging, and ensuring that the talent is being developed for next‑generation subject matter experts.
- Build effective relationships by collaborating with both internal and external customers and peers.
- Drive process improvements to solve problems or enhance the efficiency of the work area.
- Provide field & production support to meet business needs and customer requirements.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis, brainstorm solutions, implement corrective actions, and ensure elimination of the root cause.
- Monitor and review technical work for completeness and technical accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline, preferably metallurgy, materials science, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering, and 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degree in a technical or engineering discipline, preferably metallurgy, materials science, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering, and 10+ years of work experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Travel requirements: 10%.
- Significant experience with processing, characterization, and mechanical properties of cast+wrought, powder, and/or single‑crystal nickel‑based alloys.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in physics‑based materials and process models at different length and time scales and associated experimental research to understand material properties.
- Demonstrated skill as a team leader or manager (preferred) in the aerospace or defense industry.
- Strong communication skills to build positive relationships within and across teams.
- Experience in new material introductions and/or technology maturation processes (e.g., TRL/MRL).
- Experience in establishing and managing collaborative projects, developing strategic partnerships within industry and/or academic institutions.
- Competitive salary range: $157,200
USD – $298,800
