Job Summary
We are currently seeking a talented Supplier Quality Engineer at our Middletown, CT facility. The role requires experience performing supplier audits, analyzing supplier processes and products, conducting root cause analysis for parts defects, driving corrective actions, rejecting defective parts, and implementing supplier corrective action plans. The engineer will also drive quality for assigned suppliers, oversee quality plan implementation, and select suppliers through qualification processes.
Roles and Responsibilities- Conduct supplier audits and first‑article inspections to ensure compliance with ISO/AS9100 and contractual requirements.
- Analyze supplier defect trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain and improve supplier scorecards, vendor performance monitoring, and the supplier rating system.
- Coordinate supplier manufacturing readiness reviews and manage supplier variances.
- Act as the primary interface between the company and suppliers to resolve technical issues and perform source control inspections.
- Maintain reports on supplier performance, corrective actions, and specification compliance.
- Lead projects to improve supplier quality and on‑time delivery, including the development and delivery of training programs.
- Broad knowledge in a technical field (electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering).
- BS degree in a related engineering field.
- Thorough understanding of AS9100/ISO 9000 certification processes.
- Minimum 5 years of onsite experience in Supplier Quality and Aerospace.
- Detail‑oriented, excellent communication skills, critical thinking, methodical and organized.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for supplier visits.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related technical discipline (preferred).
- Certified auditor for AS9100 and at least two special processes.
- Knowledge of NADCAP and other industry special processes (Heat Treat, Welding, Nonconventional Machining, Chemical Processing, Surface Enhancement).
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual communication tools like Teams.
- Experience with project management, facilitation, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver measurable quality improvements.
