Responsibilities- Determine mechanical manufacturing methods for hardware and ensure the required manufacturing processes are available.
- Create manufacturing assembly documentation and conceptual tooling; provide technical assistance to assemble high-quality, highly engineered hardware for life support and thermal control applications, internally and for external suppliers.
- Support failure investigations by determining root causes, implementing corrective actions, and dispositioning nonconforming hardware to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and sequence larger, more complex manufacturing operations and installations; specify procedures for tool and equipment fabrication, assembly, disassembly, repair, and other manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
- Ensure manufacturing processes and procedures comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) and quality requirements.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to enhance products or reduce costs by applying knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, materials, and components.
- Perform cost estimates, work to established schedules, and write manufacturing procedures and policies.
- Review engineering drawings and concepts, resolve producibility concerns, and provide recommendations for acquisition and implementation of new technologies, equipment, and materials.
- Collaborate within an integrated product development and design environment; present technical and operational topics to senior management.
- Participate in and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including ACE, Process Certification, Manufacturing Process Reviews, Lean Manufacturing, and EH&S projects.
- You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Qualifications We Prefer: Familiarity with modeling/design packages (e.g., Creo); knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, machining concepts and special processing such as welding and brazing; experience with continuous improvement methods and tools (e.g., Shainen Red X, Taguchi DOE, DMAIC, Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis); experience with an MRP system; prior experience in Life Support and/or Thermal Control hardware is highly desirable.

The role supports operations, supply chain, and EH&S activities as part of Collins Aerospace.
