Location: Rainbow
Senior Chemist – Materials Engineering & Manufacturing Support - Space Systems (Onsite)
Location: Windsor Locks, CT
Role Type: Onsite (U.S. citizen required)
- Operate and maintain analytical equipment including GC (FID, TC, MS), IC, ICP, UV‑vis, FTIR, TOC analyzer, Karl Fischer titrator.
- Perform wet chemistry work such as titrations and chemical processing for hardware manufacture and testing.
- Apply analytical chemistry knowledge to develop and refine test methods to improve accuracy, repeatability and efficiency.
- Collect and analyze fluid, residue, and debris samples from hardware; use aseptic techniques for microbial enumeration.
- Identify unknown materials (foreign object debris) and assist in investigations of out‑of‑spec hardware.
- Manage inventory of supplies, reagents, standards, and chemicals.
- Observe good laboratory practices and maintain a safe, clean work area.
- Typical requirement: STEM degree with minimum 5 years relevant experience or advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience.
- Safety‑sensitive position per NASA guidelines; subject to drug and alcohol testing.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline. - Minimum 2 years analytical chemistry experience.
