Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in North Stonington, CT, for the position of Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records and transactions, assisting with budget preparation, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, processing payroll, and preparing financial statements. Additionally, the role includes ensuring compliance with regulations, supporting audits, and contributing to the financial decision-making processes through detailed reporting and analysis.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in general accounting practices, including maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, and managing general ledger accounts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle reconciliations and ensure compliance with financial regulations and procedures.
  • Experience in payroll processing and budget preparation.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software and tools, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and other relevant tools).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in school finance or public-sector accounting is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
