Job DescriptionThe Coordinator of Related Services (Speech and Language Services) provides visionary leadership, oversight, and coordination for district-wide speech-language pathology. This role ensures high-quality, compliant, and effective speech and language services for students with disabilities, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Services
:
Provide direct and indirect services to EASTCONN operated schools, attend PPTs, administer evaluations/assessments. - District-Wide Scheduling:Coordinate and manage related services scheduling across all assigned schools, ensuring compliant and efficient service delivery for students with a range of needs including Autism, Multiple Disabilities, and other low-incidence populations
- Medicaid Billing Oversight:Oversee and manage school-based Medicaid billing processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Professional Learning & CEU Oversight:Plan, coordinate, and track professional development and continuing education unit (CEU) requirements for related services staff, supporting a culture of growth and best practice
- SLPA/CFY Supervision
:
Supervise Speech Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) or CFY candidates, providing clinical oversight, mentoring, and performance support in accordance with ASHA guidelines and state licensure requirements - Program Development:Collaborate with building administrators, special education teams, and outside agencies to support service delivery models including co-treatment, co-teaching, and consultation
Required:
- Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a closely related field.
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Valid state license (or eligibility) as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Administrative or supervisory certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist in a school setting.
- Demonstrated experience supervising or leading teams of SLPs or related services providers.
- Thorough knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and special education procedures.
Preferred:
- Prior experience as a Coordinator or Supervisor of Student Services.
- Experience with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and inclusive practices.
- Strong data analysis and program evaluation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities.
