Are you passionate about helping others live full, meaningful lives? Horizons is hiring Support Coaches (Direct Support Professionals – DSPs) to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, learn, work, and play with independence and purpose.
For over 40 years, Horizons has fostered dignity, connection, and inclusion. As a Support Coach, you’ll build real relationships and support people in achieving their goals and living life on their own terms.
What You’ll Do:- Support individuals with daily living tasks—such as meals, hygiene, and household routines—with respect and encouragement.
- Help maintain a welcoming home environment and assist with meal prep in accordance with any dietary needs.
- Assist individuals in working toward personal goals identified in their Individual Service Plan (ISP).
- Get to know each person’s unique interests, strengths, and communication styles.
- Administer medications according to physician’s orders and DDS guidelines.
- Respond with compassion and training in moments of challenge, ensuring emotional and physical safety.
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and in ways that center the individual’s voice.
- Document your work thoughtfully and participate in staff development and training.
- Keep your manager informed of anything notable related to the individual’s well-being.
You won’t just be helping with daily needs—you’ll be opening doors to connection, confidence, and belonging. Whether you’re celebrating a small success or sharing a favorite activity, your support helps individuals live lives of self-determination and joy.
What You’ll Receive:Pay:
$19.75 - $21.75

- Be 21 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (or approved equivalent)
- Pass a criminal background and license check
- Physical ability to assist with mobility, and respond to emergencies, including performing CPR/First Aid
