Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist for a contract opportunity with a health and human services agency in Westbrook, Connecticut. This position is ideal for an experienced medical billing professional who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment and is committed to ensuring accurate billing, reimbursement, and revenue cycle support.

The Medical Billing Specialist will play a key role in managing claims processing, resolving billing issues, and supporting the financial operations of the organization.

Responsibilities

+ Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance providers in a timely manner

+ Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility information

+ Process and follow up on denied, rejected, and unpaid claims

+ Post payments, adjustments, and remittances accurately

+ Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and account issues

+ Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation

+ Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement issues

+ Assist with accounts receivable follow-up and collections activities

+ Ensure compliance with healthcare billing regulations and organizational policies

+ Generate billing reports and support month-end revenue cycle activities

Requirements

- Experience working in medical billing within a healthcare, clinic, or provider-office setting.

- Working knowledge of medical coding principles and insurance claim submission procedures.

- Background handling collections and following up on unpaid medical accounts.

- Familiarity with claim review, denial resolution, and payment posting processes.

- Proficiency using ePaces or similar healthcare billing and eligibility platforms.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive financial and patient information accurately.

- Effective communication skills for coordinating with insurance representatives, patients, and internal teams.

Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent required

+ 2+ years of medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle, or related experience

+ Knowledge of insurance claims processing, billing procedures, and reimbursement practices

+ Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems

+ Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience working within a health and human services, behavioral health, community health, or nonprofit healthcare setting

+ Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing

+

Experience with claims appeals, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up

+ Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements

Schedule

+ Full-time, Monday through Friday

+ Standard business hours

+ Contract assignment with potential for extension based on organizational needs
