Position: Manager, Legal Operations (Northfield, IL)

Job Summary

The Manager, Legal Operations oversees the day-to-day delivery of legal operations services, including paralegal support, core workflows, and legal technology platforms. This role ensures efficient, consistent service delivery, drives process improvement, and partners with legal and business stakeholders to support the effective operation of the Legal Department.

Job Description Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop paralegal staff, including workload allocation, performance management, and professional development.

  • Serve as business owner for legal technology platforms (e.g., e-billing, matter management, CLM system, etc.).

  • Partner with Procurement and Finance to manage legal spend, enforce billing guidelines, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

  • Develop, document, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Identify opportunities to reduce risk, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall delivery of legal services.

  • Establish and maintain reporting dashboards and KPIs to track performance and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Support the execution of Legal Department strategic initiatives, including process improvement and change management efforts.

Minimum Requirements Education
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Certification / Licensure
  • N/A

Work Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in legal operations, legal administration, or related role. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a people management role.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strong operational mindset with ability to translate strategy into execution.

  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships, legal spend, and various legal technology.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications Certification / Licensure
  • Legal Lean Sigma Institute (LLSI), CLOC Academy, or related Legal Operations curriculum.

Work Experience
  • Hands‑on experience administering Ironclad CLM, including configuration, workflow design, template management, user administration, reporting, and ongoing system optimization to support scalable contract lifecycle processes.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Working familiarity with Smartsheet project management tool.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$ - $ Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.

Our benefit package includes health insurance, life and disability, 401(k) contributions, paid time off, etc., for employees working 30 or more hours per week on average. For roles where employees work less than 30 hours per week, benefits include 401(k) contributions, paid time off, as well as access to the Employee Assistance Program, Employee Resource Groups and the Employee Service Corp.
