Location: Germantown

Overview

Senior Maintenance Technician on a centralized technology team providing support across 20+ school and office locations, serving 11,000 students and up to 1,500 employees. The role assists in establishing, integrating, and maintaining computers and related devices, and supports the network and software infrastructure that underpins district technology assets to enable classroom learning.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, upgrade and maintain software and hardware necessary for the operation of technology assets, including computers, peripherals, operating platforms, and educational software.
  • Respond to and resolve requests through the central Help Desk Ticket system, diagnose, repair and maintain technology assets to ensure effective operation of the district technology program.
  • Assist in troubleshooting basic network and VOIP issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on district technology equipment.
  • Provide higher level, advanced technology assistance to staff and students to support classroom-based implementation of devices and software for educational purposes.
  • Maintain accurate records for inventory and repair/maintenance work across the district.
  • Prepare written materials (e.g., reports, memos, letters) for documenting activities and conveying information.
  • Manage and support server-based information and communication systems (SIS, email, library, web, etc.).
  • Transport equipment and supplies as needed to job sites or for repair.
  • Perform other duties related to the centralized oversight of the district s technology assets to support the district s mission and vision.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Windows, Macintosh, and other operating systems used within the district.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic network concepts and technology.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of server operating systems (Microsoft Server, Mac OS X Server).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic networking concepts, devices, and security.
  • Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Work effectively in both independent and team environments.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and become proficient in教育-related software programs.
  • Demonstrate aptitude or competence for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to transport, lift or move heavy technology assets, up to 50 pounds.
  • Own transportation is required for travel across the district as directed by the Supervisor.
Education and Training

High School diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor s or associate degree in computer science or a related field is preferred. Two or more years of demonstrated educational credits in technology or related fields are also strongly considered. Certification in technology repair (e.g., Apple Certification) and/or equivalent demonstrated job experience in technology repair is required. Applicants should be prepared to describe demonstrated competency and success in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting across diverse technology, preferably in a school-based environment.

Coursework or certification in one or more of the following platforms is also preferred:
Apple, Microsoft Office, Google, Power School or similar educational software.

Terms and Conditions of Employment

The terms and conditions of this position are governed by a collective bargaining agreement between the Danbury Public Schools and UPSEU. The agreement is available on the District website. General terms include a 12-month work year, with starting wages and benefits described in the agreement. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Technology at the Beaver Brook Central Office.
