Brookfield Public Schools has an exciting opportunity for an Excellent Technology Technician in our District.

This is an T3 position in the Secretarial Union

This is afull-time (7.5 hours per day), 12 month position (T3)

TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN T-III GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Technology Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of technology their assigned location(s). Management of the Local Area Network (LAN), the LAN interface with the district Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet connections, installation of software and troubleshooting of software application problems, and the set up and repair of all technology equipment. The Technology Technician assumes other general technology functions assigned by the immediate supervisor, including the training and assistance of users of the building technology.

GOAL

To ensure each building technology program functions at optimum performance, including the functionality of servers, workstations, peripherals, infrastructure, and other technology devices. May require travel among buildings.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installs, maintains, manages and upgrades computers, servers, peripheral equipment (including video projection systems and interactive whiteboards) and related software at their assigned location(s).
  • Maintains technology network(s) and troubleshoots problems related to end-user application (e.g., printers, Internet, etc.)
  • Develop, update, and maintain documentation for infrastructure and end user technology changes as necessary.
  • Maintains the technology hardware and software inventories for their assigned location(s).
  • Provides assistance and training in use of hardware and software for end-users of the technology program (e.g., teachers, secretaries, paraprofessional staff).
  • Support students use of Chromebooks, tablets, and other technology including any 1:1 program support.
  • Ensures that technology systems are protected by security patches and updates, anti-virus, and Internet filtering.
  • Monitors the appropriate use of the district technology system(s) and promptly reports issues or concerns to the Director of Technology and building Principal.
  • Performs such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology

  • Expertise in computer and network technologies.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff and students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and vendors.
  • Contributes to an overall sense of teamwork and cooperation in support of personnel in other assignments when requested to do so.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply information from research, guides, and other supporting materials.
  • Promptly seeks assistance when needed.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of emerging technologies.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma (minimum), preferably a junior college, technical school, or college graduate or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Demonstrated skill, experience, aptitude and interest for the work to be performed.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
