the new canaan police department is an internationally accredited agency currently accepting applications for full-time certified police officer. Applicants must be a u.s. Citizen, at least 21 years of age, and have a high school or equivalent degree. Applicants must have a current out-of-state certification that meets postc comparative certification requirements. A minimum score of 40% on the chip test and a minimum passing score of 75% on the cpca entry level police officer exam are required prior to applying.
Potential candidates will be required to complete and successfully pass a peer interview, polygraph examination, police commission interview, psychological evaluation, medical examination and a thorough background investigation. A competitive wage and benefits package will be offered in accordance with the current labor contract. There is no residency nor proximity requirement for employment with the department. - salary range $78,050 (step 2 upon hire) to $104,389 (at step
5) - $5,000.00 sign-on bonus after completion of probationary period

- applicant must not have been dismissed from any law enforcement unit for malfeasance or other serious misconduct.
applicant must not have resigned or retired from any law enforcement position while under investigation for any malfeasance or misconduct.
