Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a Senior Buyer position in Winsted, CT for our client, a growing manufacturer of quality machined products for the aerospace and industrial sector.

Reporting to the Procurement Segment Manager, the core objective for the Senior Buyer role is to advance Business Unit goals by implementing strategic procurement initiatives. You will be responsible for balancing production demands with cost‑effective sourcing, risk management, and process efficiency. Success in this role is measured by your ability to secure the best possible value for the organization while maintaining strict adherence to company guidelines and compliance standards.

Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Sourcing and Quoting: Develop and issue requests for quotes (RFQs) and proposals tailored to specific plant requirements.
  • Cost Analysis: Evaluate supplier proposals by weighing price, quality, schedule, and capability to determine the best overall value for the company.
  • Negotiation: Proactively negotiate terms, including pricing, payment cycles, and delivery lead times, ensuring they align with broader plant goals.
  • Order Management: Execute purchase orders from approved requisitions to fulfill operational, inventory, and production needs.
  • System Maintenance: Oversee the lifecycle of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in pricing, account coding, and adherence to vendor delivery dates.
  • Resolution & Reconciliation: Investigate and clear invoices on hold by collaborating with suppliers and internal teams. Coordinate closely with Receiving to match and reconcile supplier shipping documents.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key point of contact for departments such as Engineering, Quality, Operations, Shipping, Maintenance, and Accounts Payable to ensure operational issues are addressed promptly.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Maintain rigorous adherence to company procurement policies and audit protocols, assisting with all related compliance tasks.
  • Supplier & Item Setup: Facilitate the integration of new suppliers into the system and handle the setup of new inventory items.
  • Operational Support: Deliver attentive and high-quality administrative support to facilitate smooth business operations.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required, specifically within Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, or Business disciplines.
  • Professional Background: A minimum of three years of hands‑on experience in Supply Chain, Finance, or Procurement roles.
  • Regulatory Compliance (ITAR): Because this position involves access to sensitive data controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, applicants must be classified as a "U.S. Person." This includes U.S. Citizens, individuals with Permanent Resident status (Green Card holders), Political Asylees, or Refugees.
  • Floor Engagement: We value inquisitive minds and a hands‑on approach. Candidates should be comfortable spending time on the shop floor to gain a firsthand understanding of plant operations.
Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience in Oracle or similar ERP system.

    Competency:

    High level of comfort with the Microsoft Office suite – strong proficiency in Excel preferred.
  • Data Analysis: You should possess strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to interpret data and generate meaningful performance metrics or reports.
  • Communication Style: A customer‑centric mindset is essential for success in this role.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years (3) of experience in Purchasing/Procurement or Supply Chain.
  • Willingness to frequently visit the shop floor.

This position involves access to export‑controlled items. Employment offers are contingent upon the candidate's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Our client offers a base salary of $98,000‑$108,000 per year plus bonus and exceptional benefits that start on day one.
