Senior Assistant Manager

Planet Fitness, a private equity backed fitness retailer, is seeking candidates for the role of Senior Assistant Manager. The Senior Assistant Manager will oversee a wide variety of areas within Planet Fitness, focusing on managing personnel, assisting the Club Manager or Direct Supervisor, and ensuring effective day‑to‑day operations as the manager on duty. The role requires multitasking in a fast‑paced environment, meeting strict deadlines, delegating effectively, communicating with management, and providing superior customer service to our members and guests.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Understand and drive club metrics in alignment with business performance.
- Develop thorough knowledge of club services, programs, and products, and stay current on key competitors.
- Assist in the interview and recruitment process, including initial phone interviews for front desk and fitness instructor positions.
- Ensure proper onboarding and training for all team members using available tools and resources.
- Monitor inventory and review daily/weekly/monthly sales numbers with GM or Direct Supervisor to identify opportunities and adjust execution to improve performance.
- Order supplies and retail items on schedule, maintaining appropriate inventory levels to maximize profit margins.
- Utilize reporting tools to ensure proper business practices are followed.
- Promote fluency and discipline of operational processes by leading effective training and ensuring consistent execution across all areas.
- Manage maintenance and repair issues using the Service Channel platform and follow up with the appropriate department for timely resolution.
- Ensure and monitor accuracy and compliance with all policies, procedures, standards, club documentation, and confidentiality of information.
- Communicate and uphold company standards, leading by example to deliver the organization’s mission, vision, and values; manage a clean, friendly, and well‑maintained club.
- Ensure team members consistently execute basics in punctuality, dress code compliance, friendliness, and cleanliness.
- Develop and maintain cleaning duties for all employees.
- Coordinate disciplinary actions and terminations with Direct Supervisor, Regional Manager, and Human Resources.
- Work schedule as assigned by the Direct Supervisor based on business needs.
- Provide shift coverage for employees during call‑outs or vacancies, assisting the Direct Supervisor with staffing needs.
- Assist in overseeing club audits to ensure all areas are clean, neat, organized, and in "like new" condition.
- Mentor team members to promote career growth through training, development, and performance assessment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.
