Position Overview
Onsite Maintenance Technician – Electrical & Mechanical Industrial Maintenance at Pratt & Whitney, Asheville, NC. U.S. citizenship required. Role type:
Onsite.
- Skilled in electrical and mechanical industrial maintenance, including the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of plant machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Complete all required trainings and comply with safe practices and procedures.
- Read and interpret regulations, blueprints, P&IDs, schematics, service manuals, and process sheets.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance tasks and recommend changes in procedures and practices to provide an improved level of service.
- Independently handle jobs from start to finish—including coordination of contractors, time estimates, required materials, fabrication, and implementation of projects.
- Research and propose modifications to improve productivity or enhance reliability.
- Research and order equipment parts, including proposed min/max for critical items.
- Document work in SAP maintenance management suite (CMMS) and properly utilize the shop floor Andon system.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, climbing, standing, walking, and twisting hands, work in a confined space, and maintain a forklift license.
- Travel up to 10% to equipment manufacturers and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Hands‑on electrical and mechanical experience installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.
- How to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
- Working with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and basic automation systems.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability.
- Root cause analysis and problem‑solving methods for equipment failures.
- Collaboration with production teams to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
- Exposure to industry standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Continuous improvement processes and maintenance best practices.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).
- U.S. citizenship required.
- 7+ years of knowledge as a multi‑craft technician in basic mechanics, rigging, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, electrical, automation, and PLC/CNCs.
- Well‑versed in OSHA regulations and general safety practices.
- Mechatronics degree or related field.
- Ability to diagnose and repair problems with electronic controls and associated systems (motor controls, programmable controls, CNC controls, relay logic, HV/DC power supplies).
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Knowledge and use of precision measuring devices.
- Computer proficiency and Microsoft Office experience.
- Ability to prioritize and adjust schedule to meet production needs.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
