Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor

7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday

Chester, CT

Plans and designs manufacturing processes for a Production facility.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for small projects and multiple tasks within functional discipline
  • Depends on others for guidance and direction
  • Still learning the fundamentals of the Manufacturing Engineering Production Support role
  • Understands core concepts in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Confers with Engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
  • Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Provides DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) input for new product development
  • Possesses basic mechanical systems knowledge and understanding to aid in the design and building of manufacturing fixtures
  • Supports manufacturing of prototype and pre-production products
  • Provides training and provides ongoing support of manufacturing systems
  • Assists with improving Production efficiency through hands-on work with the Production floor and utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques and Continuous Improvement strategies.

Education and Experience
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering w/0–2+ years' experience
  • Basic solid modeling experience. Experience with Solid Works is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Basic machine shop experience and knowledge of measurement techniques
Physical Demands and Abilities
  • Able to stand for long periods at a time
  • Able to lift 35 lbs
  • Able to operate basic hand tools (screwdriver, wrench, pliers, electric drill, etc)

Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties. This ability to communicate requires the employee to be conversant in English as the majority of our workforce and the third parties that we encounter only speak English.
